From the Course

Rainfall for the Week: 20.5mm Rainfall for 2020: 789.5mm   Dam: 100%   Green Speed: 10 feet

This week the team has been busy working on course presentation trimming tree bases, mulching under trees between 13th and 17th fairway, hand weeding Poa Annua from ladies 12th tee bank, trimming greens sprinkle heads and stump grinding in the tree line between 1st and 17th fairways.

Tuesday saw quite a lot of rain and the team spent the day in the shed tidying up the machinery, cleaning up shelves and helping our mechanic Rowelan to move things around to make more space. Heavy winds on Tuesday and Wednesday resulted in debris on the course so the vacuum and blowers were out tidying up. The low limb pruning of trees has continued this week, with the majority of this completed.

The putting green is looking much healthier and happier now as a result of traffic being directed to the western side which wasn’t seeing the same volume of traffic as the pro Shop side. This indicates that our traffic management plan is working and we will continue to rotate wear using hole locations, closing the green for a rest as required,  keeping up the fertiliser once a week and reducing the frequency of cut until the weather warms up.

After last weeks rain the course has dried out well as a result of the subsequent wind and therefore there will be no cart restrictions on the weekend. The worst wet areas on the course will be roped off to protect them from damage.

The volunteers were on the course on Monday morning, raking bunkers before the competition, gerni the pavers at the front of the clubhouse, sanding the tombstones and sand bins, mulching 5th garden and trimming fairways sprinkle heads. Thank you again gentlemen for all your efforts this week.

Have good weekend

The Course Team

Happy Hour Extended to Tuesday’s

With the Club open for trade and Friday Happy Hour from 4pm – 6pm gaining in popularity (and some exciting new initiatives soon to be announced) the Club are extending Happy Hour to include Tuesday’s from 3pm – 5pm.

There is a number of reasons for this and we would be telling pork pies (lies) if we didn’t say it was to get more people in the Clubhouse, however with the choice of day being the one that coincides with the Clubs only “social play only day” we are hoping to encourage the section of membership that are less active in the Clubhouse to join in and enjoy what the Clubhouse has to offer.

We look forward to seeing you at the Club and building on the wonderful support the members have provided the Club throughout the difficult last 4 months.

Preferred Lies in General Area from Saturday 18th July

Commencing Saturday 18th July, golfers are entitled to take a Preferred Lie in the General Area of the course of up to 30cm (a standard grip length as a reference).

General Area refers to the entire golf course excluding;

  • Tee ground
  • Penalty Areas
  • Putting Green
  • Bunkers (however a separate Local Rule currently in effect allows for preferred lies in bunkers)

Please note the ball must be marked prior to lifting, may be cleaned and placed within 30cm which must be no nearer to the hole.

Ball Washers to be Re-installed

Members are advised that the on-course ball washers located on many of the tees around the course will be re-installed next week.

Members are reminded that the use of these is optional.

MiScore App – Setup Assistance on Saturday 18th & Thursday 23rd July

Many members have taken up the trial of the MiScore App which allows golfers to complete scorecards on their mobile device and can be loaded onto your device by searching MiScore App from the Apple or Android store and selecting the icon displayed below.

To assist members to load the app and provide a quick tutorial on its use, additional staff will be in the Pro Shop on Saturday 18th and Thursday 23rd July for any member who would like assistance. The app has received very positive feedback from everyone who has used it and is very easy to use once loaded.
