Junior Development Programme (JDP)


The Junior Development Program (JDP) is a starter golf program for children under the age of 17. The program is aimed at getting youngsters into the game of golf whilst providing them with the tools and skills that will allow them to play the game of golf for life. JDP participants will learn the basic fundamentals of the game with the goal of getting them onto the golf course enjoying the sport with friends and family ASAP.

All classes are conducted by qualified PGA Professionals who have years of experience working with and coaching all levels of golfers. Those coaches include:

  • Jeremy Ward
  • David Ecob
  • Jason Park (Korean & English speaking)
  • Max Dakic

When are the Classes on?

JDP classes run in conjunction with the NSW school term.

Basically, if school is on, the JDP classes are on.

If school is on holidays, the JDP classes are on holidays.

Much like the normal NSW school term, each JDP term runs for 8 – 10 weeks.

How to Book into the classes?

Keys points to remember when booking classes:

  1. Once you are accepted as an Oatlands JDP Member, you will be given login details to our members only website. This is the website you will use to book classes.
  2. Each JDP Member is only allowed to book a maximum on one class per week.
  3. The bookings website opens two weeks in advance at midday, so bookings can only be made two weeks in advance.
  4. Thursday is our Elite Group class. JDP Members can only book into this class if you have been approved by one of our PGA Professionals.

What is the JDP Membership Cost? – $445 per year.

Please note: The annual cost does not include any additional School Holiday Clinics that occur throughout the year. School holiday Clinics are an additional cost to the JDP member.

What skills will the children learn in the classes?

JDP Members will learn all aspects of the game of golf. These include:

  • Basic fundamentals: grip, stance, chipping, putting, hitting the ball, bunker play
  • Course management: club selection, shot selection, distance control
  • Club Competitions and how golf handicaps work
  • Rules and etiquette
