Rainfall for the week 3.0 mm
Rainfall for 2025 1053.5 mm
The strong winds that swept through Sydney on Sunday afternoon cooled things
down but also created quite a mess across the course and caused damage to a few
trees. Trees came down on the 6th and 18th holes with
course staff busy on Monday morning getting these cut up and removed from the
course. The fallen stump near the new 7th tee that was covered in
the Wisteria Vine has also been tidied up and trimmed back.
With the closure and demolition of the clubhouse to begin shortly, we have
managed to salvage most of the larger sandstone blocks that were the border of
the garden in front of the clubhouse. These blocks will be reused for different
projects around the course in the future.
With the first round of the Thursday nominated Ladies Club Championship’s starting
this week, course staff tried to stay out of the way of the ladies field by
spreading mulch in the area above the 12th fairway near Oatlands
House driveway. The team is slowly using up the large stockpile of mulch on the
left hand side of the 16th hole, and once it has all gone the OOB
pegs will be moved back to their original positions.
Our volunteers were back on the course bright and early Monday morning
performing a bunker run before the 8am shotgun start. Following this the
practice nets were cleaned, checked and repaired, the electric awning from the old Clubhouse balcony
was removed and
transferred to the cart staging side of the temporary clubhouse where it will
cover the food truck and provide some relief for the kitchen staff whilst they
are preparing food on the hot summer days.
The volunteers also placed the fly
traps back out around the course, as why should we have to play an outdoor
sport in Australia and have flies annoying us! Thank you gentlemen for your
contribution this week. The set up of the fly traps isn’t the most pleasant
task, but I’m sure your fellow members will appreciate it over the coming
months.
Members should note that the green stake that appeared within the garden behind the fourth tee has been removed and this garden is now an integral part of the course. The reason for this is to discourage potential wayward shots in this area which pose a risk to safety of fellow golfers playing the 4th and 8th holes.
Greens will be cut on Saturday
morning and then cut and rolled on Sunday morning. I will be setting pins on
Saturday, with Garry setting them on Sunday.
Happy Golfing
The Course Team.
